Book Review: Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Hello Book Worms, today I am going to be reviewing a book called Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout book #1 in the Lux series. Obsidian is about a girl named katy who moves to West Virginia from Florida with her mother three years after her father passes away, for a new start. Katy thought this town was drop dead boring but what katy doesn't know is that her next door neighbor is a sexy and defiantly attractive guy name Daemon Black. But there are two things she discovers about Daemon and that is one he is a totally arrogant prick that she just wants to slap and two he is an Alien from the planet Lux, 10 billion lightyears away.

Yes, i know this sounds super cheesy and probably sounds like it isn't worth your time... But stop right there because this book is spectacular! I give this book 5 stars. It is a angsty, romantic, action filled, drop everything kind of book. Obsidian is defiantly in my top 5 favorite books. Katy is a really easy to like girl, she is just like you and me. She loves to read, blog, and isn't spoiled or obnoxious. She is a sarcastic, funny, loving character that brings this book to life from start to finish.

Then theres Daemon, and if you see the cover of this book he is one word HOT. Although he is absolutely attractive in our and Katy's eyes he is a douche bag, from the moment he says his first words to katy she isn't to fond of him but this is what makes this book so unique. It doesn't start of girl sees boy, boy like girl, they fall in love. Oh no this is more like girl sees boy, boy talks, girl flips boy off. Throughout this whole book you see their relationship flourish but it takes awhile, like it does in reality. The romance is definitely there but at points throughout the book you want to rip you eyes out and just say "kiss already!!!!" that honestly was the only downfall of Obsidian.

Then there is the mystery behind everything, the signs of some supernatural element is there but not noticed until Katy is about to get hit in the face with it, literally. Katy reads a lot and she thinks that this is all crazy like something from a book with the whole mysterious boy meets girl scenario and add in the weird behavior and the alien part and her mind is blown. But throughout this book she makes friends like Dee Black, Daemons twin sister and Carissa and Lesa which help her stay grounded to normal and help her discover the undiscovered secrets whats really going on in this small town by the mountains of Virginia.

All together this is a must read, i found myself shocked multiple time in this book and i just wanted to read more. Be prepared for a sleepless night. I just couldn't put it down and read it all in a day. If you like the books Hush, Hush, The Mortal Instruments, or The Host you will defiantly love this book! Thanks for reading and pick up Obsidian at your local book store today :)
