Whats up with the 'City of Ashes' movie?! Well, heres what I know...

As you all know I LOVE The Mortal Instruments series but that doesn't mean that I would think there should be more movies accompanying the City of Bones movie. Don't get me wrong, there was a time that I REALLY wanted the CoA movie to be made but now....eh.

We have been kept in the dark for so long as to whether or not there will be another TMI film. City of Bones didn't do too well in the box office and only brought in $60,000,000. I know that sounds like a whole lot but in the movie business its not.

When I first entered this wonderful Shadowhunter fandom I was a fan of the books and I honestly didn't know there was going to be a movie. I am always going to be a fan of the books but that doesn't necessarily mean I am a fan of the film. I think the acting in the movie was superb but the script and placement of some of the scenes... not so much. It was overcomplicated and hard to follow, even for me! I know I may sound hypocritical since I have the biggest TMI fan account (which I am so thankful for every single day, I love you guys.) but I started that account for the books because they are truly something special.

I definitely got my hopes up for the City of Bones movie and now that I look back, that wasn't such a great idea. This was because I didn't allow myself to see the movies flaws because my love for the film was too strong. It was fun while all the hype lasted but once the movie failed...not so much. I'm not saying that I didn't like the movie because I did! But now looking back I see how certain aspects of it would lead it to fail in the box office (sad as it is). The box-office can be VERY mundane sometimes....just saying. AHH I feel like such a negative Nancy right now but I SWEAR I don't mean to be. I just don't want to sugarcoat anything for you guys since I care for you.

On the other hand I would definitely like to see an Infernal Devices movie/TV show but if that ever happens I want them to take as much time as they need to perfect the script and all that other fun stuff before they start the actual production.

The reason I am writing this is because some rumors have surface about CoA moving on in production and I'm here to say that nothing is for certain yet. I would hate for us all to get excited over nothing because that would really blow.

Anywayssss some exciting new that I want to share with you all is that I'll be doing a City of Heavenly Fire book trailer! YAY! It will be out right before the release of CoHF which hits shelves May 27th (BE PREPARED FOR THE FEELS....and death. Yeah. Lots of death.)!!

Thanks for reading Shadowhunters and stay hopeful for some news regarding CoA or any other shadowhunter series in the near future. <3

  1. Yea I totally agree, when I first saw The movie I just went in with such high expectations and when I left I didn't allow myself to see much wring with it, but as time went by and watching it over and over I realized how many things they got wrong and although I still love The movie, I don't like The adaptation as much anymore, I mean it wasn't completely horrible but it could've been way better. As for TID I would love for it to become a movie, not a TV show though because they will just change too much about it in order to drag it on for many seasons So it gets a lot of money; but Im all for The movie as long as they write The script and produce it as closely to The books as possible because that trilogy on it's own was perfection; and I honestly it's one of those Series that are just perfect as books and should just stay that way unless they make The movie pretty much The exact same way. I do wish that COA will continue production but that This time they do it right; I do believe that it should be an easier adaptation for them as not as much happens and we are already introduced to The world, with CoB it was new information after new information even in The book So to cram all that into a film must've been hard and I understood, but with CoA it should be easier because we already know everything and it should have an easier flow that's not rushed at all. I really want it to become successful if they do make it.bbecause I really want CoG to become a movie; it's my favorite of The Series and it would make a great movie, although again a difficult adaptation because while CoB was more info packed This one is more action packed and it's great (:

  2. I think TMI city of bones is a good movie considering it only as a film, but seeing it as an adaptation of a book is not the best but not the worst, I think everyone has their way of thinking and not because others will not liked it means that those who do should lose CoA because it is quite unfair seeing it that way, I would love to see it but I think the scene on the boat with all the demons would be very difficult to represent I have full faith that they can make a good job if given the chance it deserves adaptation.
I apologize for my English is not the best and I'm working on that.
    Greetings from Chile.
And remember, this is just my opinion and I hope you respect it. :) <3

  3. I had high hopes for the movie as well, and it was a good movie, it just didn't,well... click I guess with the books. It was a good story with a good plot, but it didn't really follow the books as a guide sometimes. I haven't read TID yet but I plan to soon!
